Staging Your Home To Sell |
|
|
|
|
Curb
Appeal |
Look at your home as you drive up,
noting the condition of the landscaping,
exterior paint, window treatments,
gutters, trash, soiled walls. Keep
the lawn trimmed and add flowers for
seasonal color. Shine door
hardware and paint or polish front door. |
|
|
|
Overall Interior |
Walk through your home. Store,
throw away or donate anything you won't
need until after the move.
Un-clutter the house by removing and
storing knickknacks and furniture that
crowd rooms and walkways. Open blinds
and paint in light neutral colors.
Place pet items out of sight and remove
litterboxes or other items that have
potential for odor problems. |
|
|
|
Living
Room and Family Room |
Make these rooms spacious and inviting.
Remove magazines and toys and make sure
the entertainment center sparkles.
Vacuum upholstery, drapes, pillows, etc.
Discard or replace worn carpets and
furniture. |
|
|
|
Dining
Room |
Clean out the china cabinet and polish
any visible silver. Put a lovely
centerpiece on the dining table, and lay
out a setting of dishes and glasses with
place mats and silverware. |
|
|
|
Bedrooms |
Bedrooms should have furniture arranged
to give a spacious feeling. Remove
games, toys, magazines, cosmetics and
jewelry...especially on the nightstands |
|
|
|
Bathrooms |
Remove rust and mildew stains.
Make certain that everything sparkles,
including grout. Wash or replace
shower curtains. |
|
|
|
Kitchen |
All appliances should work. Clean
the inside of the refrigerator,
microwave and oven; polish the cabinets
with furniture oil. Install new
faucets if necessary. |
|
|
|
Attic
and Garage |
Get rid of unnecessary items.
Again, store or pack items you won't
need until after the move. Clean
cabinets, benches and floor.
Provide bright lighting, and make all
areas accessible for inspection.
Clean vents and change filters.
Take care of any musty odors. |
